Ms. Lane is stopped from reclaiming her fortune from Faye by a spell that would transfer all of Faye's bad luck to her. Undeterred, she declares she will simply kill Faye instead. Her mentor, a cultivator, intervenes and warns her that harming others defies Heaven and will incur punishment. He proposes a different plan: she should publicly reclaim her identity as the true heiress at a banquet, using a Fate-Changing Talisman to restore her fortune without violence. Frustrated by the complexity, Ms. Lane still prefers her lethal solution.
