Beneath the Rouge, A Sword - Episode 1

At a dawn ceremony to assign brides, Princess Lainey draws the short lot that should send her to wealthy Myrraveth. Courtiers whisper she might be the foretold Phoenix Chosen while others mock her as a servant's daughter. A rival reveals another "real" short lot and claims the omen, then taunts that Lainey will be cast to the brutal Outlands. Lainey denounces the divine show, is silenced and seized by guards. Her father decrees a princess must sacrifice and orders Lainey to marry into the Outlands under threat. She capitulates: "Fine. I'll marry!" The court's decision leaves her fate uncertain.
