At a family audience, someone returns from the Outlands with baskets of gifts and tells the father, "I wish to take Mother back with me." The household scoffs: nobles call Outlands produce rotten, insist only the King owns top-grade jade, and mock the offerings as dung-stained trash. A supporter defends the gifts, insisting the Outlands hold real jade and that the baskets were handpicked and priceless. Insults escalate until the father angrily orders guards to open the baskets. The episode ends as the covers are lifted, leaving the gifts' value—and Mother's fate—about to be revealed.
