Ms. Hayes faces a jealous woman accusing her of flirting with Edric, whom the woman plans to marry. Despite dressing as a man, Ms. Hayes endures the woman's humiliating threats without retaliation, refusing to reveal the truth to get fired. Meanwhile, the woman blames Mr. Byrd for her misery and decides to break off her engagement. Ms. Hayes then instructs an assistant to send her Mr. Byrd's contact information, determined to confront him and end their alliance, challenging whatever plans he has for her. The episode ends with her resolve to meet him and sever ties.
