During a tense battle, Carrie, the only Hogleinian able to summon a deity, calls forth Lord Hogarth to defend their people against the powerful Yvenlorian deity Lord Houndrix. Despite confidence in Hogarth's strength, he falters under Houndrix's attacks, revealing Carrie's lack of knowledge about Hogarth's true power, which is severely limited. As Houndrix continues to press their advantage, Hogleinians face a grim outlook. Just as defeat seems certain, an unexpected arrival by a legendary Pure Altar Envoy interrupts the battle, suggesting a turning point is near but leaving the outcome unresolved.
