At Mrs. Link's house a heated argument erupts when Kevin confronts Nicole about remarriage, accusing her household of taking salary and invoking the man who died three years ago—Leah's father. Neighbors, including Chuck, press in. A man offers to provide for Nicole and Leah, while insults escalate and Nicole strikes a brother-in-law. Mrs. Link defends Nicole and tells Kevin to stop.
