Believed-dead Wynne returns from the underworld to avenge her parents and settle a debt. The Judge of Fate warns her not to reveal her identity: anyone tied to her will perish and never reincarnate. At court she faces Carlos, who doesn't remember her; his "aura of death" intrigues her and a pulse proves she's alive despite the Chancellor's report. On the wedding night the funeral becomes a celebration.
