At her twentieth birthday, Chloe (Ms. Smith) jokes about food and games until guardians reveal her parents were murdered twelve years ago and that she was hidden and trained for vengeance. Chloe refuses, insisting she wants an ordinary, frail life, and is mocked by a Lycans lieutenant who vows to deliver her to their leader. He orders men to seize her, threatening she’ll "sleep with Mr. Lupin tonight." A protector intervenes and a melee erupts. The Lycans' commander then orders the defenders killed, collapsing the celebration into violence and leaving Chloe's fate and vengeance unresolved.
