At his wedding, Mr. Rong — who broke his monastic vows to enter the mortal world — openly declares joy at marrying Liu Xu and insists on sharing feelings and wealth. He announces a plan to give half his fortune to Miss Liu, prompting whispered concern from those around him. Outside the ceremony, Mrs. Song rebukes Liu Xu for snubbing Rang and threatens to disown her if she defies the family. Vows, toasts and photos follow. At the end Mr. Rong asks to kiss his bride; Liu Xu hesitates, imagining his soft lips, leaving their first step together uncertain.
