At the school convocation, the protagonist wins the Top Student Award and receives a valuable deed to Raptor Cave, while Mia Ruth, the school belle, receives only instant pasta and breaks down publicly. Matt, Mia’s admirer, forces the protagonist to trade the deed for Mia’s pasta using bullies. When dinosaurs suddenly invade and devastate the city, the protagonist uses the pasta to survive, while Mia suffers in the cave. After being robbed and killed, the protagonist wakes up back at convocation, realizing Mia has also been reborn and is targeting his supplies. Despite her threats and public pity act, he plans to fortify the cave and prepare for survival, betting all on a risky game to raise funds.
