Shattered into One Million Pieces - Episode 5

At a school presentation, a child named Demi arrives with only one guardian because her other parent couldn't come. A glamorous woman draws stares; jealous classmates and a boy named Jack accuse Demi of stealing the woman, shove her and shout accusations. Nearby parents gossip that Demi's family is poor and mocking ensues. Demi demands why "Mommy" won't admit her and begins to cry. An onlooker expected to hate Harold and his girl finds themselves unexpectedly pained by Demi's tears. The episode ends with that observer torn between prejudice and compassion, their next move unresolved.
