At a tense interview Mr. Griffin challenges a PhD working as his prospective assistant, warning the job means 24/7 availability, cleaning up his messes and possible danger. She insists she can handle it, producing the only thing that keeps her alive and saying she promised Nathan she'd take care of Mr. Griffin for seven years. Griffin suspects she's a gold digger; she admits she has put up with Nolan for nearly seven years but never loved him. With Nathan's recorder set to unlock in three days, she intends to hear his final message and then join him in the netherworld.
