Mr. Goodwin, long believed to be in a coma, suddenly awakens—revealing he pretended to be a 'vegetable' to investigate the mastermind behind his car accident. The woman who tended him, Mandy, is confronted by the line, "Oh, Mandy, how could you take advantage of a vegetable?" A subordinate informs him Ms. Goodwin has found him a partner; Mr. Goodwin orders surveillance after learning she is "of unknown origin" and demands reports.
