At a gathering a furious mother-in-law publicly accuses Lady Freya of misconduct while Gabby tries to frame her. Eva Zeller intervenes, reveals she is the marquis's daughter, and undercuts Damon's threat to arrest Freya. Freya's supporters force an apology and point out she received her title before marriage. The crowd disperses but Ms. Jones vows she's not finished. Back home Freya recalls that in a past life Marie slept with Damon after Freya died; seeing Marie's bold dress, Freya notes Marie "really thinks she's my equal," leaving their rivalry unresolved.
