At a small meet-and-greet, a young fan, Lily, recognizes Ms. Hadley and quietly reveals her father is comatose after a car accident. Lily, six, plays Ms. Hadley's songs for him and hopes her mother will return. Ms. Hadley praises Lily's singing and invites her to enter the Little Singer contest with a $100,000 prize that could pay for treatment. Lily refuses because she can't leave her still-unconscious father. Ms. Hadley agrees to sign an autograph and goes to his room; Lily still must decide whether to take the contest that could save him.
