Despite her defense that a berserk demon caused her failure, the crowd and her opponents demand she surrender the Jade. Jane’s failure disappoints her father’s memory, intensifying the pressure. Howard defends her against the insults but is overruled. The conflict escalates until an unexpected challenger steps forward, demanding a duel to claim the Jade, forcing all parties to agree that whoever wins will settle ownership of the Jade once and for all.
