Mr. Jackson coughs black blood; attendants say dark energy has taken root and he's critical. The Master asks Claire if Jackson ever had a lover; staff answer no. He urges Claire to try the method he taught and, if needed, use her middle finger's blood. Servants fetch cinnabar, brush, hot water, red candles and silver needles and move Jackson to his room for the ritual. The household prays for Shawn as Claire prepares to draw blood and begin the procedure; the episode ends with the ritual starting and the result unknown.
