After Lionel learns that Layla, not Vera, rescued him on Wolf Mountain, he confronts Vera and insists she must never hurt Layla or his child. Layla, who forgives him, sets a humiliating condition: if Vera spends one night with homeless men, Lionel can be with Layla.
