An old friend wakes Moonrend and apologizes for making him hold back his strength; Moonrend vows to grow stronger so he'll be recognized again. At the Regal Army recruitment, a poor youth tries and fails to pull the Moonrend Spear and is accused of stealing the uniform. He pleads poverty and, when told he won't be seen again or he'll be punished, cleverly uses that to stay. An officer calls him "a talent worth shaping." In camp Erin is ordered to present intel. A sudden noise — "Who's there?" — is answered by an unseen voice: "You..."
