Elara, the ruling lord of the Silver Moon Sanctuary, shocks her people by abdicating her title to her husband, the wolf king Kael, insisting he will rule despite his mixed blood. Elsewhere, a woman and her child accidentally stain a noblewoman's dress. The angry noblewoman, claiming to be the sworn sister of Drake, the sanctuary commander, threatens them with exile for their 'impure' blood and sends for her brother to exact brutal revenge. As the commander arrives, his sister demands he kill the defiant woman, only for him to kneel and address the woman respectfully as 'Lord.'
