Luna, the Queen to Wolf King Kael, is publicly disrespected by a woman named Ivy. Ivy's brother, Drake, who commands the silver moon patrol, forces his sister to apologize, citing the severe political consequences of offending Kael's Queen. Luna accepts the apology, but Ivy privately vows revenge, claiming Kael is already hers. Meanwhile, Gwen, another woman at the scene, insults Luna for failing to produce a pure-blood heir and warns her of imminent exile. Just as this threat hangs in the air, Kael arrives home and shockingly declares that Ivy, not Luna, will be his new Queen from that day forward.
