Sophie is assigned to Mr. Xavier as an assistant after four years and immediately faces a probationary pay cut: her salary drops from $18,000 to $12,000. Confronted with his blunt "If you don't want the job... submit your resignation," she snaps, "I quit." Colleagues notice her red eyes and she leaves early to tend to Lucky, saying the move is hard. Back at work the boss drags staff to follow a small electric car, warns it's unsafe and only the premium has airbags. He then shouts, "Hit it," forcing an urgent, risky decision and leaving the outcome unresolved.
