Cherry returns to the Jepsen household claiming she is the real daughter swapped eighteen years ago and confronts the woman raised in her place, Rudy. On Cherry’s first day back they face each other as the family announces transfers of real estate, jewelry, shares and trusts to Cherry. Rudy apologizes, admits she took eighteen years of Cherry’s life, vows to move out and cooperate with the handover. As the handover begins, Cherry spots a hairpin—an eighteenth-birthday gift from their parents—and asks, "Rudy, we've met before, haven't we?" The question hangs unresolved.
