Told to sell a wedding ring, she refuses to burden distant, ill parents and instead hires an attorney to file labor arbitration against Hector for withholding three years' salary and failing to sign an employment contract. As she prepares the suit she worries about Hector's power and possible retaliation, noting only Ethan—Hector's cousin and the Fuller family's true heir—might oppose him. She returns and asks, "Where's Ethan?"
