At a New Year's family gathering, Eric arrives late and recounts a case where a man killed his child for insurance, immediately souring the mood. The parents scold him for unlucky talk while noticing an odd, slightly foul smell on Eric and around the house. Ginny praises Bryce; the parents stress he’s been caring for baby Levi, even changing and bathing him.
