She's assigned to cook and prepares steaks, short ribs and lamb—Noel's favorites—while the household reminds each other of full-moon rules banning alcohol and bloody meat. Her dishes win approval, and she asks to take leftovers for her four-year-old son. Mr. Payne, surprised she's unmarried, trails off: "If we go by the timeline, does that mean..."
