A man living with his daughter-in-law Maria and granddaughter Sofia tries to ease their financial burden by selling produce, but his truck and goods are ruined, leaving him with a large fine he cannot pay. Overwhelmed with guilt, he apologizes to Maria, feeling he has only added to her troubles. Their young granddaughter Sofia arrives home excitedly to show him her good grade, only to find him unresponsive. She panics and calls for her mother, leaving the family facing a new crisis.
