Mr. Todd Hugh arrives with lavish marriage gifts and announces a wedding next month. Vera and her mother celebrate, assume Vera will be the bride, and insult and force Ada out after their father's death, calling the arrangement a "fake marriage." Ada leaves, saying she has nowhere to go. The episode turns when Ada admits she married Mr. Hugh out of desperation and now finds herself in the wealthy CEO's luxurious home, taken aback by his presence. She pauses at the threshold and says, "I should go," leaving her next choice unresolved.
