The arena hosts an exhibition challenge: battle-hardened Jason with his mecha Shadow's Kiss faces two newcomers fighting for his Top 32 spot. One newcomer, Kevin, refuses to pilot; he sends his SSS-rank Mecha Maiden Ember into combat alone, rejecting a Fusion Sync despite Kevin's F-rank combat aptitude. Spectators jeer and the opposing team taunts that they’ll shred her. Ember initially falters but then vanishes from sight mid-engagement; a shocked shout and a sudden scream cut the match short. Ember’s disappearance and the abrupt scream leave the outcome—and Jason’s seat—unresolved and dangerously poised.
