Facing a surgery with only a 5% success rate, Ian and those around him absorb the grim prognosis as doctors admit the odds. Alice comforts Ian, folding paper cranes and promising to wait; Ian agrees to undergo the risky operation despite the low chance. They seal the promise with a pinky swear before the procedure. Just as determination sets in, a staff member interrupts to tell Alice her grandmother is dying. The episode ends with Alice rushing off—"Grandma!"—leaving Ian’s fate unresolved and the surgery about to start.
