Mr. Finch's new wife is introduced at a reception; guests are stunned when she reveals she grew up in an orphanage, and Finch privately vows to divorce her after his grandfather dies. Grandpa then returns, announces he's alive, forbids his grandson from drinking, and says he'll travel, leaving them alone. With the maids away she bathes the recovering grandson; she taunts, “you're just a patient… no different from some pork,” helps him to bed and leaves him embarrassed and unsettled. His promise to divorce remains unresolved.
