Nora returns home, and Grandpa asks if Eric gave her a hard time; she denies it—'he's in a wheelchair'—and reveals she overslept, hasn't eaten, and has been doing chores. Neighbors talk about Alex's accusations while someone reports Mr. Finch is at the hospital and will soon be back at the company. Later, a person summons Nora and orders her to fetch the clothes Mr. Finch left at a hotel. The caller admits that if Nora is tricked into the hotel they can ruin her reputation. Nora says, "Okay, I'll go now," stepping into the plotted trap.
