At a family meeting, relatives finalize Ellie’s wedding after she names a date. Ellie wants the third of the sixth month; elders call it rushed and suggest postponing to the tenth, but fear gossip if they delay, so they set the date. Jason arrives, says he has matters and prepares to leave. Uncle Alex is still unconscious and cannot receive the bride, so an unmarried stand-in is required. Jason is proposed but he declines because of duties; the family instead nominates Lord Spencer. Now they must persuade Ellie and secure the stand-in.
