After a scuffle leaves Ellie checked for injuries, someone apologizes and vows to treat her better. The narrator notes that, reborn, trivial slights no longer matter. At a family meeting Jason is pressed over an old incident: relatives insist Elena was innocent while others accuse Jason of holding a grudge. Mother says a clan member will stand in for Uncle Alex at the wedding. Relatives push Jason to attend, calling Elena's marriage announcement a ploy for his attention and urging him to pretend to accept her. Pushed, Jason relents: "Fine. I'll do as you say."
