At a social gathering Layla faces Elaine, an old classmate who insults her and revives a past rivalry, accusing Layla of looking down on others and reminding everyone she was sold to the Moore family. Zack's male friends, led by Ned, pile on, mocking Layla as a 'boring wife' and arguing men must 'break' misbehaving women. Ned brags he forced his wife to kneel and pressures Zack to do the same. The confrontation escalates to public humiliation when the men order Layla to kneel and pour drinks as an apology, leaving her next move unresolved.
