Xavier is pressured to drop his appeal and tell police Lydia’s death—19 stab wounds—was an accident. Jason, who saved Xavier and Zoey in the Eastmount mudslide, asks them to protect his only family, and Sarah urges Xavier to repay him. With Zoey bleeding and phones buried, a passerby will only help for a jade heirloom as collateral despite a million-dollar card. Xavier refuses to sign because Jason’s brother killed his sister and must pay. Mr. Shane pleads to take responsibility; calls were made so no lawyer will take Xavier’s case.
