Adam escalates, taunts Mr. Shane and offers a settlement handshake to end the matter. When Adam's provocation turns violent a scuffle erupts and Adam is badly hurt. Zoey and Sarah rush him to the hospital while others stay with Xavier. The key turn: Adam's injuries create a legal crisis — "If Adam dies, Xavier goes to jail" — so Adam's survival now decides Xavier's fate and the appeal.
