Lucy delivers a special custom vegetable order to a high-society charity dinner hosted by the Shaws. The client had specifically requested her and paid above market rate. At the back entrance she is recognized, then mocked by guests who scorn that she brought only vegetables to a fundraiser and call them scraps. Insults escalate into accusations that she’s insulting the orphanage and reminders that she once refused Ms. Heath’s introduction. Lucy’s explanation is dismissed, leaving her publicly humiliated and the event in suspense as guests demand an answer.
