He refuses treatment because revealing it would trigger layoffs at his factory and vows to disappear within seven days rather than "live like a zombie." Colleagues and Haley plead, and attention shifts to his wife Madelyn. In a confrontation—Madelyn pleading "Don't leave!"—Zoller admits twenty years of a loveless marriage: she never slept with him and forbade intimacy. Realizing she’s been waiting for another man, he decides to step aside; the episode ends as he moves to give Madelyn to Trenton while his plan to vanish remains unresolved.
