Rival relatives promise a large prize and promotion. Mrs. Murillo orders a top pianist; Ms. Torres reveals she can play and offers to accompany the contestants. Asked to perform, she begins as someone asks, "Is she—", leaving whether the contest will draw the child unresolved.
