Veil of Treachery, Crown of Power - Episode 5

Neighbors storm Matt's home to publicly shame him for divorcing Lillian and push him to accept Maxine Russell's marriage to secure his career. Jerome and Lillian protest; villagers insult Lillian, demand she sign an agreement taking taels and land and leave so Maxine can wed Matt. Matt insists he has no choice and delays signing until Jerome recovers. Tensions escalate when guards are called and Jerome is struck; Lillian's royal identity is revealed to the mob. Maxine then warns her brother may reach Destree tomorrow, leaving the household facing immediate danger.
