At a hospital, a mother tries to leave after learning her four-year-old Bree needs an expensive surgery. Mrs. Blake confronts her, demands when she had a child and accuses her of keeping the baby to extort Don. The mother admits fault, begs punishment but insists Bree not be blamed, and reveals she collected the surgery money on a card. Mrs. Blake recognizes Don’s black card, calls it proof of extortion and orders guards to seize Bree. Guards surge forward as Bree cries and bystanders shout, leaving Bree’s safety and the secret parentage unresolved.
